“It is relaxed” Said Selma!

Selma joined Ultimate Fitness about 6 months ago. Very quickly, she started seeing and feeling the benefits:  walking taller, feeling stronger, and of course, clothing fitting better…  Friends and colleagues started noticing as well, but the best compliment came when she was sitting at the doctor’s office recently, getting a flu shot. The nurse was prepping her arm and kept asking her to relax her arm. “My arm is relaxed”, Selma answered. The nurse didn’t believe her at first, and Selma explained she had been working out with weights twice a week. “Wow” the nurse said! Past performance points to a future of fitness

Before I opened my personal fitness studio, Ultimate Fitness, I had a long and prosperous career as a “World-Cup” class, mountain-bike racer. With persistence, passion and lots of training I was lucky enough to land a spot on the Volvo-Cannondale mountain bike racing team. In the years I spent on the team, Volvo-Cannondale won 11 World Championships, 17 World Cup titles, 16 National Championships, 89 World Cup wins, 33 NORBA wins, 2 Olympic games and 2 Pan-Am Games Gold medals. And that’s just the wins. There’s a healthy quantity of podium places too—184 at World Cup events, 35 in World Cup series, 21 at World Championships, 84 at NORBA events. The key take away for me from this once in a lifetime experience with an incredible group of athletes is that strength training is “the key” to power, endurance and top performance. I’ve learned first hand that having a healthy, strong body is everyone’s vehicle for life. And if you ignore it or take it for granted, you’ll never get to where you want to go OR across the finish line! Watch Sara Ellis in the 2010 San Rafael Criterion race...
